So I found out what I'm gonna' do with my future - instead of before when I was thinking of what would make me the most money. Get a trade certificate, then go to university. Also take a year off to start a band. That's basically the gist - So I'll be starting school with all you people a year earlier than me (yay!). Anyways - Enough of me. You've already had 2 posts in a row about me, and that's really no fun. :)
Time for...a band review!
Eye Alaska:
This band is SERIOUSLY KICK ASS. I suggest downloading their EP right now - and when you can BUY their actual disc. I really think EP's are meant to be downloaded since they're so small and expensive. These guys are like a mix of The Killers and...Fall Out Boy. The lead singer doesn't have an insane high voice like Martin from Boys Like Girls - or is it really low like Chad from Nickelback. It's like, right in the middle, given it's not as high as Patrick's either (FOB), but it's roughly close to his. The resemblance to The Killers is that they work around cool synth parts - but Eye Alaska works around pretty sweet piano stuff.
The song "I knew you'd never fly" demonstrates the piano in their style greatly. The intro is straight piano, and the fills between vocal lines are piano as well. It's great. The guitars are standard - Straight 8th's - Power chords. And the singing is practically the same as any other generic 'rock' band. What makes the band is the piano. The pianist has some serious skill, and it TOTALLY fits the music. I give them a 4.9/5 - Losing the .1 because without the piano, they're just like another rock band.
Now for BTOW: This week's band of the week IS....The Decemberists! You might've heard some of their stuff, but not enough I'm betting.
Anyways, that's my two sense on things.
